Chamber History
March 24, 1967 the Southern Pines Area Chamber of Commerce was formed.  With 20 Board of Director members, their purpose was to promote the advancement of the educational, social, cultural, civic, commercial, industrial, agricultural and economic interests of the community.  In 1968 the Board changed the name to the Sandhills Area Chamber of Commerce.   Recognizing the membership in the Chamber was growing and to reflect these changes, in May 2004 the Chamber changed its name to the Moore County Chamber of Commerce. 

Chamber Mission
The Moore County Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to provide quality, value added services and programs to members to unite Moore County area business in a committed effort to strengthen the economic environment and thus improve the quality of life for all of Moore County.

What is the Chamber of Commerce?
The Moore County Chamber is the largest business organization in the area, uniting business and professional firms to accomplish collectively what cannot be done individually. While it is organized as a not-for-profit corporation, it operates and lives within its financial means.

What we are not!
The Moore County Chamber is not a department of the city, county or state government; and, we are not a social service or charitable institution.

Who are its members?
The Chamber’s nearly 800 members include the largest and most successful businesses in the region, recently organized start-ups, and almost every conceivable business in between. What our members hare in common is a commitment to the Moore County Area as a place to invest, to do business and to live!

Who govern's the Chamber?
The Chamber is governed by a 32 member Board of Directors that is representative of the range of businesses among the organization’s membership. Elected directors serve rotating 1 and 3 year terms.
