During the period from 1895 to 1910, the JB Eastwood Company was a successful timber business. Located south of Carthage near the intersection of NC 73 and US 15-501, Eastwood was once a rail hub for transporting the area’s lumber. Today, as in the past, numerous cattle and horse farms can still be found along with older farm homes which share the area with the new homes which are springing up.
