Jugtown Pottery was established around 1920 thanks to the efforts of Jacques and Julianna Busby. Through the years, Jugtown became well known for its traditional hand-turned pottery. This clay based section of northern Moore County is the home of approximately one hundred potters, one of the largest working potters’ areas in the United States. The area surrounding Jugtown is a viable tourist attraction, as residents and visitors alike enjoy this time honored art. Jugtown Pottery is listed on the national register of Historic Places and has been the home of many famous potters.
