Voted best antiquing area by Our State magazine and heralded by Southern Living magazine, Cameron is a destination for serious collectors and weekend browsers alike.  Deemed the Dewberry Capital of the World, Cameron was once the end of the line for the Raleigh and Augusta railroad, becoming a bustling commercial center in the 19th century.  Bursting with general stores, turpentine distilleries, a millstone company and the town also boasted the largest department store between Richmond and Augusta.  Indeed, for a town so steeped in history, it is only fitting that it has become a celebrated antiques community.  Many buildings of the 19th century architecture still stands on the one-mile stretch of Highway 27, dozens of them now housing antiques hops.  The surrounding hills offer great home sites for those seeking room to roam, and Cameron’s location on the astern end of the County gives it easy access to Sanford and Raleigh.
